Since the digital ignition coils are operated in most cases with stators with 3000 turns (the coil expected a defined initial tension), it is necessary to assemble the stator and the rotor as much as possible at the right level with each other. The rotor sits about 4 mm on the coil body of the stator, this is also seen in the magnetic cores which need to be in the middle of the core laminations.  The rotors type # 923 strip 9mm deep with a diameter of about 22 mm need to be turned in (outer diameter of the nut), and Type # 9988 (strip already screwed) is already suitable. In older ignitions rotor type # 952 was often used, which sat too far onto the crankshaft. This is where the base plate of the stator can be removed accordingly.

In addition, the rotor must be centrally run to the stator and there must be enough clearance between the core laminations (stator arms). Here the bearing clearance when under load and a certain amount of expansion due to heat has to be considered. The manufacturing dimensions: outer diameter of the rotor Ø58, 00 mm, inner diameter of the stator Ø59, 00 mm, 0.5 mm. Often by reducing the play to about 0.1-0.2 mm more firing power is deployed.

Important! Digital ignition systems must always be suppressed, ie You must use either a spark plug or spark plug unshielded with 5 kOhm.

If the stator and rotor are mounted at the right level to each other, then the coil is defined based on the rotational speed of the ignition timingDeviations from the installation level have influence on the ignition timing and ignition.

All digital ignition coils provide to the value shown in the diagram according to early, that the maximum dynamic adjustment in EARLY is the speed which has the highest value in degrees of crankshaft rotation. In the case of PVL ignition coil 500134 this is at 10000 rev / min 35 ° crank angle.

This means:  If you need a maximum spark at 35 ° BTDC, then in OT, the stator and rotor are aligned to each other and mounted so that the magnetic cores, stator core laminations and an axle opening another form (see PVL Quick Start Guide). The ignition ignites corresponding to the ignition curve as shown in the diagram.

  • If you need a maximum spark at 26 ° BTDC, then is set as follows:
    desired max. The advance of the engine minus max. dynamic adjustment of the coil = static setting angle. In this case, 26 ° BTDC - 35 ° dyn. Adjustment = -9 ° entering angle static (negative values ​​"ATDC").
  • Consequently, 9 ° ATDC mounted stator and rotor aligned. The ignition then fires according to the diagram, e.g. at 6000 rev / min at 22 ° BTDC (31 ° dynamic adjustment - 9 ° entering angle static).
